When we remember our life as university students, those of us who are already Lawyers, remember with a certain nostalgia, the beginning and our passage through the Degree, from the first day with all its joys, with all the debates, with all the nights burning your eyes in the codes and Law notes, with all the nerves in the exams and oral presentations. Days, weeks, months and years passed, until we reached the dreamed goal of obtaining Our Degree of Graduates in Law, Lawyers.
There may be many tips to ride the race in a more enjoyable and effective way , but below I will share with you achieve such a wonderful dream: graduating. Some that I discovered while I was a student, others that great teachers recommended to me. 7 tips that helped me
1.- Love the Law: I will start these tips with this, it may sound like a cheesy cake, but this advice will lead you to apply the following tips almost without noticing, and without giving You are going to excel in classes and have good grades. Many of the first students who begin the degree, but who drop out while passing the first filter exams, and in the end end up graduating poorly, and you notice that in the end all the graduates had something in common that they either always liked the degree or they finished loving thanks to the perseverance they dedicated to him. and if you don’t love him, apply the maxim that custom becomes law and start loving him little by little.
2.- Nobody Loves what they don’t know, Use metaphors: this career is based on many abstract technical concepts, and we cannot observe with our eyes what we study As with others, the objects of study can be observed more closely, such as Medicine, or Engineering, in our case we must understand the Institutions, legal figures, concepts, with our mind. A tool that helps a lot to understand is to use metaphors and similarities, transferring concepts from laws and codes to the real world, with comparisons.
3.- Debate with Other Colleagues: this is one that fulfills many functions, it is like a multivitamin for law students, and it is why being a lawyer is arduous fatigue of points of view, it is something that the student must understand and assimilate, our thesis has to be tested together with that of others. This way you will get used to arguing well, accepting opposing theses, and expressing yourself orally correctly.
4.- Underlined in Codes and Laws: well, I don’t know if some Lawyers agree, but on the advice of professors, I got used to “making them my own codes and laws that I have in my possession” I take the opportunity to clarify that you do not scratch those of your colleagues, having made that clarification I continue, highlighting key aspects of the articles will have a refreshing effect on what the article itself is about, without getting lost in all the words that the legislator places that are sometimes the rest. Also after you have key aspects, visible when you open the Code or the Law, failing that, it will speak to you and you will understand it more, with the course of the race these tools will be so yours that they can even sing to you and blow details, with just one look.
5.- Make the most of your Professors: being students we have them there, those great jurists giving us their knowledge for “free” but we are in another world, and it is not to be criticized that university life is very active. But having seen this article you do not have the right to defense, you are warned, take advantage of your teachers efficiently, knowing more about the topics discussed in class, and not discussed, regarding doubts you have about the law, both in their subject and in others, Establish quality relationships with a professor you like, and you will have a gem that will help you both in your degree and later.
6.- Panic Button: do not fool yourself with all the advice and all your fervent passion for The Law, surely at some point in your career, you may have reasons to leave it, this stage happens to some, and here I leave you some very good advice. When this happens you must appeal to a resource greater than the reason or reasons you have for abandoning, and you must embrace and hold on to the Reason why you started the race, it may be real, or even a just dream, no matter how logical. or irrational as it may seem if it gives you life and the desire to continue and do your best, to become a Lawyer.
7.- Enjoy the Journey, this last one is a bit weak but you have to remember that the university is also a social space where you can meet people who can add value to you. your life, take advantage of this to enrich yourself and if there are fun educational projects, join them, because either you have fun or you learn or both.
