Ahh, yes. Your bundle of joy has finally arrived. And while it is a joyous occasion indeed – the belly fat you are left with isn’t so joyous. Postpartum Belly – that stretched out, mushy, belly fat can be a bit of a shock really. But with a little work and a few “secret tips” – you could be back into your cute jeans in no time! Skinny moms know that to get rid of a postpartum belly you need a good exercise and diet program – preferably one created especially for new moms, because not all workouts and diets are created alike. So, be sure you get with a program that understands that you are a new mom, and that you have special needs. And it helps if you have a skinny mom’s “secret tips” like my next belly buster: Protein Shakes!
What are protein shakes and why are they considered a “secret weapon”? Well, protein shakes are pretty self explanatory – they are shakes with a high content of protein included. Serious exercisers and body builders include a protein drink in their diet for many reasons, but here are the top 5:
1. It provides your body with vitamins, minerals, and amino acids!
2. It is very filling – which makes it a great meal replacement or snack!
3. Most importantly because it provides much needed protein – which turns your body into a fat burning furnace! Protein is probably the most important food you can consume when trying to get rid of body fat, because your body actually burns fat just to break it down and digest it. When protein is combined with the right carbs (like fruits and veges) it boosts your metabolism and gives you the energy you need to burn even more belly fat!
4. It’s portable. You can either purchase ready made drinks, or carry a powder in a plastic bag until you are ready to mix it with cold water to drink.
5. There’s something for everyone. They come in a variety of flavors, you can go with whey or soy, and you can mix them with water, milk, or juice.IKARIA LEAN BELLY JUICE REVIEW
You may have to ask around for the best tasting ones because there are some that are not so tasty. My favorite is EAS Soy Protein in Vanilla Soy (you can get it at WalMart for around $9 and it will last about 2 weeks if you drink one a day). I like the vanilla because I can create many different drinks with it. I always use a blender, one scoop of vanilla protein, 1/2 cup of cold water and 1/2 cup of milk, and a little crushed ice then I add one of the following to make a variety of flavors:
– several straberries for a strawberry shake.
– a tablespoon (or less) of Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa and a 1/2 of a banana for a banana chocolate shake.
– a tablespoon (or less) of Hershey’s cocoa and a tablespoon of peanut butter for a chocolate peanut butter shake.
– a 1/2 of a banana and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a banana shake.
– a 1/2 cup of blueberries for a blueberry shake.
– Try your own! Just add a 1/2 cup of your favorite fruit and blend! The more crushed ice you add, the thicker it makes your shake.
If you don’t like milk, just use 1 cup of cold water (instead of 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of water). I don’t recommend using fruit juice to mix with your protein because juices already have so much sugar in them and when you are trying to get rid of the belly fat, remember sugar = fat! It’s better to get your sugar from a small amount of fresh fruit.
Protein shakes are great when you are craving a dessert. If you find a good recipe, it’s like you are drinking a nice thick shake – and they are so filling! Perfect as a snack or a meal replacement when you are on the go. I drink one every other morning for a quick breakfast, and I’m out the door!
